Product Description
Butterfly Valve Introduction
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
A butterfly valve is a rotary on-off and regulating valve. It controls the opening, closing, or throttling of media in pipelines by rotating a disc-shaped butterfly plate 0 to 90 around the valve stem.
As the simplest-structured and most cost-effective fluid control valve for low-pressure applications, the butterfly valve achieves opening and closing with a 90 rotation of the disc. It is widely used in low-pressure pipelines for water supply and drainage, HVAC, chemical, and other industries.
With a simple structure, compact size, light weight, and fast opening/closing action, butterfly valves are extensively applied in low-to-medium pressure, large-diameter fluid pipelines. They are among the most commonly used general-purpose valves in industrial and municipal systems.
Core Structure:Body, butterfly disc, stem, sealing seat, manual actuator (handle / gearbox).
Working Principle:
Disc parallel to the pipeline Fully open (extremely low flow resistance).
Disc perpendicular to the pipeline Fully closed (tight contact of sealing surfaces for shutoff).

PRODUCT FEATURES
Compact structure, small size, light weight, requiring minimal installation space for easy transport and mounting.
Fast operation: 90 rotation allows full open/close with low operating torque.
Low fluid resistance: When fully open, flow resistance is nearly equal to that of a straight pipe, minimizing pressure loss.
Excellent regulating performance, suitable for throttling and flow control applications.
Superior sealing performance; soft-seated versions achieve bubble-tight zero leakage.
Easy maintenance: Sealing components can be replaced without full valve disassembly.
Wide range of applicable sizes, covering both small and large diameters.
Lower cost with better cost-effectiveness compared to gate valves and globe valves.
BUTTERFLY VALVE CLASSIFICATIONS
1. By Connection Type
Wafer Butterfly Valve: No flanges on the valve body. Installed directly between pipeline flanges with bolts. Features the shortest structure, low cost, and easy installation.
Flanged Butterfly Valve: Integral flanges on the body for direct bolted connection to pipeline flanges. Offers better sealing performance and higher pressure ratings.
Welded Butterfly Valve: Directly welded to the pipeline. Suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure applications requiring strict zero leakage.
Grooved / Victaulic Butterfly Valve: Connected via grooved couplings for quick installation. Commonly used in fire protection and water supply/drainage systems.
2. By Sealing Type
Soft-Seated Butterfly Valve: Sealed with elastic materials such as rubber or fluoroplastics. Provides excellent sealing performance and achieves zero leakage. Suitable for normal temperature and pressure conditions.
Hard-Seated Butterfly Valve: Metal-to-metal sealing. Resistant to high temperatures, wear, and erosion. Ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure, and particle-containing media.
3. By Structural Eccentricity
Concentric Butterfly Valve: Valve stem, disc, and body are concentric. Simple structure with bidirectional sealing. Commonly used in general low-pressure applications.
Double-Eccentric Butterfly Valve: Double eccentricity between the stem, body, and disc. Reduces friction during operation, lowers torque requirements, and extends service life.
Triple-Eccentric Butterfly Valve: Triple eccentricity of the stem, disc, and sealing cone. Zero friction on sealing surfaces, enabling high-pressure, high-temperature, and zero-leakage performance. A high-performance butterfly valve.
4. By Actuation Type
Manual Butterfly Valve: Hand lever / gearbox operated.
Pneumatic Butterfly Valve: Equipped with a pneumatic actuator for remote control.
Electric Butterfly Valve: Fitted with an electric actuator for automatic regulation and on/off control.
Hydraulic Butterfly Valve: Hydraulically driven. Suitable for high-torque, large-diameter applications.
5. By Lining / Material
Lined butterfly valves (rubber-lined, PTFE-lined), stainless steel butterfly valves, cast steel butterfly valves, ductile iron butterfly valves, etc.
