PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

A ball valve is a valve that uses a ball as the closure member. The ball is driven by the stem to rotate 90 around its axis, enabling opening/closing, diverting or combining flow in pipelines. As a widely used shut-off and control element in industrial piping systems, it features fast operation, excellent sealing, and low flow resistance. It is suitable for a wide range of working conditions, from low-pressure ambient temperature to high-pressure high-temperature and strong corrosive applications.

BALL VALVE CLASSIFICATIONS

1. By Ball Support Structure

 Floating Ball Valve: The ball has no fixed shaft and relies on medium pressure to press against the seat for sealing. Simple structure, low cost, suitable for medium-low pressure (PN 16MPa) and small-to-medium diameters (DN 200). Common in urban water supply/drainage and general chemical pipelines.

 Trunnion-Mounted Ball Valve: The ball is fixed by upper and lower trunnions, only rotating without displacement. Stable sealing, high pressure resistance and low torque, suitable for high pressure (PN 20MPa) and large diameters (DN 200). Ideal for natural gas long-distance pipelines and high-pressure oil & gas fields.

2. By Actuation Type

 Manual Ball Valve (Lever / Gear Operated): Manually operated, low cost, suitable for small-to-medium diameters and low-frequency switching. Commonly used in residential and small factory applications.

 Pneumatic Ball Valve: Driven by compressed air, fast response, explosion-proof. Can be equipped with positioners for modulating control. Widely used in petrochemical and flammable/explosive environments.

 Electric Ball Valve: Motor-driven, supporting remote/automatic control with high precision. Applied in building automation, power plants and water treatment systems.

 Hydraulic Ball Valve: Hydraulically driven with high output torque. Suitable for extra-large diameter and extreme high-pressure working conditions.

3. By Sealing Type

 Soft-Seated Ball Valve: Seats made of PTFE/RPTFE/rubber. Zero leakage, low torque, temperature 200-260. Suitable for water, gas and weakly corrosive media.

 Hard-Seated Ball Valve: Metal-to-metal sealing (e.g., stainless steel + hard alloy). High temperature resistance (up to 550), wear and erosion resistant. Suitable for high-temperature steam, particle-containing media and strong corrosive conditions.

4. By Port / Connection Type

 Port Types: 2-way O-type (shut-off), 3-way L/T-type (diverting), V-type (modulating), full bore / reduced bore.

 Connection Types: Flanged, threaded, socket weld / butt weld, grooved, wafer.
